IN THE SOUTH
Mattia’s House by the Sea
We love lounging by sea, cooking and BBQ is an absolute yes yes!
Mattia’s house ticked all the boxes for us and with a very friendly price at £36 per night. The house is about 40 minutes away from Cagliari airport and there is a small but lovely local beach just 4 minutes away from the house. We had 7 nights in Sardinia so we went to beautiful Chia Bay twice, which only takes 30mins by car, Porto Pino which is an hour away from the house, visited Cagliari city once to explore the city’s historical sites and explored the Archaeological Site of Nora and its beach by the nearest town Pula.
10 minutes by car, there is a big supermarket called Jolly where you will find most grocery (fresh seafood, meat, BBQ charcoal, beers, wines & etc) and there are also restaurants, delis, gelato shops, bakeries, pharmacies and butchers and couple of souvenir shops in this small village of Pula.
The Nearest Town
The house has a front porch under a shade that is good for having breakfasts, a kitchen/dining area, a master bedroom with a double bed and extra bedroom with bunker beds that connects to a small back garden with a typically local masonry BBQ. We really enjoyed Mattia’s house during our stay and especially evening BBQs at the back garden. You will find everything you need to cook in Mattia’s kitchen – pans, pots, plates, cups, cutlery and charming Sardinian dinnerware. Fridge is nice and big. Bathroom is on the small side but everything works just fine. And there is a parking space right in front of the house you can use which was very handy.
BY THE SEA
We have timed it and it was four minutes walk to the nearest beach from the house. When you walk right outside the door and at the end of the same road, there is a trail you can follow straight to the beach. The sandy beach is small, tranquil and only used by the locals. There is a cute beach bar that sells drinks and ice-creams but no other shops or facilities.
